After
the earthquake in 1920 four potter families from Simbilá moved to Chulucanas,
near of Vicus' mountain. Those families were the Sosa, Yamunaque, Lopez y
Alache, the motive of their migration was to find new lands richer in clay.
Chulucanas is a population close to the mountains in Piura. After
researching several techniques, they found the negative-positive technique as
the best one. today we have several tones, from the clear beige to the black,
the tones are obtained from the ashes of banana, mango leaves, the amount of
fuel placed in the last baked will improve the tone of the color. The burnishing
is another technique very useful used by the artist from chulucancas.
