The pumpkin is a very popular fruit in Latino America, has been cultivated for
the last 4,000 thousand years, and its fruit is very useful
in order to store water and food. The wild pumpkin is one of the best one for
decorations and the "materos" (artist) have many way to convert a simple dry
fruit in a very artistic collection piece.
The pumpkin was used way before
the appearance of the ceramic, and the oldest evidence found, was in the Chicama
valley in the north cost of Peru, by the archeologist Junius Bird in 1946, after
analyzed the fragments with C14 gave as a result 3,500 years old, these pieces
were found also next to textiles.
